Some of the British people rubbished the beauty of The Great Ocean Road in Australia but bragged about the Great South West Walk . I can’t see what is so better about it .They are both beautiful in their own special way .

I have read this book thanks to the wonderful Italian translations, where the orginal title is literally translated even though the subtitle has been omitted. An aspect of this incredible and so moving story seems to be an only suggested reference to Buddhism, the capacity of perceiving myself as a part of the basic foundations of Earth, including my best and really basic human relations. Maybe, however, my impression has to be related to what Mrs. Winn writes in the Aknowledgments at the end of her following book "The Wild Silence", her referring to "Rob MacFarlane's fascinating book «Underland»".

Such a great video! I am so happy and proud of my coast <3 Love Beer, Seaton and Lyme Regis which I highly recommend visiting the most for Devon/Dorset. I can't wait to go to Cornwall soon with my Italian lover. Any suggestions for cornwall? I am thinking lands end and Tintagel for the sights but is there anywhere full of culture or overwhelmingly beautiful?

Thank you for your wonderful book. I picked it by accident, and after the first few pages I couldn’t put it down. A gritty, honest and truthful read; I laughed too, and was totally absorbed. A real eye opener. Your book has been a companion.

South-West England is a renown place for sordid, navel-gazing racists be they men or women & are best left contained to that region. People of colour who have a self-respecting set of moral standards should not venture there at all. Coconuts, oreos & brown sahib/sahibas albeit, should stay & end up there & thankfully!! cleanse the rest of the world of their presence.

I found the Salt Path disappointing. The book was very repetitive and too long, the writer is mostly negative about the people they meet and I wonder if her own attitude caused others to treat her badly. To say that her actions were irresponsible, doesn't mean that one is lacking compassion. It is impossible to know how would anyone react in those dreadful circumstances, and I can imagine that the very shock of it all would make one take decisions that otherwise, one would't take. However, after a whole year, having had more time to process things, they still didn't arrange their finances or properly prepared. In the UK you can get all kinds of financial help from the government and charities if you follow the right channels. So, to take a terminally ill man on that walk without his medication subjecting him to dangerous withdrawal symptoms, feeding him junk food, getting him very close to the edge of the cliffs when his legs go into spasms and can easily lose his balance and fall to his death is indeed irresponsible. Even the author recognises that at some point. I am glad everything worked out for her, and that she turned things around and got a book deal. I hope that they went back and paid what they stole including the camp site fees they didn't pay. Great that people feel inspired to walk, that's great, but please, be sensible not everyone is going to be as lucky as these two.

Inspirational! I love the point about the importance of including your feelings and not just the bare facts in any blog or journal of SWCP or travelling experiences. I was fortunate to complete the whole 630 miles back in 2014 and then write up my experiences. I tried to include my feelings, good and bad, and on re-reading it brings back how situations impacted on me each day. I saw the first episode of Michael Palin reliving his travel experiences over many years starting with the ground breaking "Round the world in 80 days" TV series. What shines through is the joy of the spending time with people he would never have met without travelling. The crew of the dhow that took him from Arabia to India spring to mind. The goal is to complete the journey of course but what is really beneficial to our wellbeing is what happens along the way and how we deal with it!!

Just finished The Salt Path. I have to admit I couldn't write this until the blurriness in my eyes subsided. Such an inspiring, brilliant book. I highlighted the passage (as so many have done) where Moth talks about the mingling of the ashes so they could be together forever. I sent this to my three boys in case somewhere along our lives, we forget that this is exactly what we want in the end. Thank you for such a gift.

Thank you, for this is my first book I could concentrate on after 3 years. I realised at the age of 65 and lived in my own house in the country side how easily you can become homeless And I only slept in a tent on a patch of grass by the beach beneath the roaring Atlantic Ocean for a few weeks, and now in a rented house I realise how I miss that freedom, of being one with nature, How you’re live can change , I wish you well and thank you again 💜💜
